1898 Obscene Language Baseball Document Followup

Well, here’s how we have decided to illustrate the document in the upcoming auction: The document was accompanied by many other items including a September 12, 1898 ticket stub to a game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals at Baltimore’s Union Park. The ticket is perfect to put with the document, because it has to go somewhere, and properly placed it allows us to cover up most of the questionable language for the catalog illustration, while still allowing us to refer interested readers to the REA blog for the unedited version. By the way, Washington won 5-4.  We’d like to tell you exactly what Baltimore had to say about this close loss, but really, honestly, we can’t.
